The Santa Run is a 5km fun run where every runner dresses as Santa. LondonTown.com has the low down

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Santa Run is a festive fun run where every participant dresses as none other than the man in red himself. The 5km fun run takes place in Battersea Park on 1 December and is followed by mulled wine and Christmas cake. Participants don't need to run; walking and jogging are fine too.

The event is open to everyone; the only thing that is demanded is that entrants wear a Santa suit. Registration costs £20 for adults and £10 for children. Adults need to raise a minimum of £75 and children need to raise £25 in sponsorship. Proceeds go to Home-Start, a charity that helps children get the best start in life.

LondonTown.com advises runners and spectators to book a stay in the capital so as to ensure early arrival on the day. It has a range of cheap hotels in London available to book through its website. Right now it has slashed rates at numerous London properties and, by booking through its website, participants will be able to get more than £250 worth of extras such as discounts, two-for-one offers and free guides and walking tours.

Examples of the hotels on offer include the five-star Eccleston Square Hotel London and the four-star Sloane Square Hotel London. Both of these hotels are within easy reach of Battersea Park – around a 20-minute walk, making the perfect warm up.

The Sloane Square Hotel London is housed in a stunning period town house. But there is nothing aged about the interior. Rooms come complete with laptops, PlayStations and DVDs, perfect for families and the young at heart. Room rates at this hotel now start £129 per night thanks to LondonTown.com's exclusive discount of 60%.

The Eccleston Square Hotel is a fabulous grade II listed hotel that has recently undergone a £6.5 million refurbishment. It too has plenty of high-tech gadgets and welcoming touches such as 46” ED TVs, iPod docks, super-fast Wifi access and the world's best beds from Swedish company Hastens that cost £12,000 each. This hotel has been reduced by 5% to £280 per room, per night.
