Press Release Body = Cerncice, Czech Republic, April 18th 2006 --
RealWorld Graphics released version 2006.1 of RealWorld Icon Editor,
a professional icon
authoring software for Microsoft Windows.
RealWorld Icon Editor is an integrated system capable of creating
and editing raster images, Windows icons, and simple 3D models.
The software is designed to enable a scenario, where user makes
a 3D model, renders it to image, and generates
an icon from the rendered image without ever leaving the application.
The utilization of 3D models increases productivity; one 3D model
can be used in multiple icons and the application provides realistic
lighting, perspective transformations, and occlusions virtually
for free.
Version 2006.1 brings new features that assist designers to create
icons for the upcoming version Microsoft operating system, the
Windows Vista. RealWorld Icon Editor 2006.1 can render reflective
surfaces and apply projected shadows to images using an interactive
tool - both of these effects are encountered often in Windows
Vista icons. Application menu, toolbars, and window layout are
context sensitive and can be customized by the end user or exported
and shared among users.
\"Once I got accustomed to working with RealWorld Icon Editor, my
productivity increased considerably. Graphic design often involves
a lot of trials and errors and RealWorld Icon Editor does a good
job in eliminating the repetitive tasks here. I often found myself
just pushing buttons, comparing the different renditions of an icon,
and selecting the best one,\" said one of the users of the application.
Vlastimil Miler, one of the authors, explained: \"During development
of the application, we have chosen the most important use cases,
analyzed the tasks needed to perform each step of the case, and
finally automated as much as possible in the application. The architecture
of the application allows end users to make modifications to the
scenarios and fine-tune them for their specific needs. The result
is an application performing exactly what the user needs from it.\"
